Piano tuition

I retired from teaching after 51 very successful years when Covid arrived. I was director of music at a local college and always a full quota of students. I had a 100% pass rate with ABRSM exams..easy really as I never entered a student untill fully prepared..it can be very damaging to fail an exam. I teach from pre grade 1 to Licentiate performance level. I also gave music therapy sessions for students with special needs. Many music teachers lack empathy and are unable to understand how to move a student’s playing. My aim is for the student to improve their playing regardless of their ability or repertoire. The music is everything. I have a 2piano teaching room and a small concert hall with a Steinway concert grand which students use in preparation for a performance at any level. Many students prefer a non exam route , simply wishing to improve their technique and overall playing pleasure. I miss the students and the intellectual challenge that teaching always gave me. As such I have decided to return to my first love and have taken on 6 students who were recommended to me. I aim to take on another 5.at any level providing they have an acoustic piano and the mindset to improve their playing. I dont go out to teach..I spent.many years catching buses and attending university and I now expect students to come to me. I am registered with the British Teaching council and the dept of education, and I’m a registered teacher with the Royal schools of music.
